Voting for SGA Opens March 20 by: Hope Menken

Campaigning for student body president went off with a bang on Feb. 20, and will end with the arrival of election day on March 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Moody Center Lobby.

It has become time to vote for student body president and other student government positions. The student body president is in charge of organizing the executive and student body meetings and overseeing the campus improvement proposal process.

Two students are running for the president position this year, Jake Deviney, a sophomore economics major from Bulverde, and Mikael Echeveste, a junior strategic communication major from Fort Worth.

Nina Tarasovets, a sophomore business administration major from Ukraine, is running for vice president. In the hopes of becoming the student body chaplain, Hannah Albin, a freshman worship leadership major from Mansfield, and Grant Poteet, a sophomore criminal justice major from Aubrey, have put their names on the ballot to be considered for this position. Running for secretary is Grace Thompson, a sophomore nursing major from Weatherford. Ethan Arias, a freshman accounting and finance major from San Angelo is running for treasurer.

The voting process is electronic allowing for immediate results. The winners of the election will be announced through Hardin-Simmons’s social media pages and flyers at the SGA office, which is the glass office located in Moody by the main entrance.

If you want to be involved in SGA, but do not know how, be sure to stop by their office to get more information on how to join. If you have ideas regarding anything that would improve the HSU campus and are someone who likes to get things done, SGA would be a great way to have those ideas heard and considered.

If you have any other questions regarding student life or SGA, reach out to Isaac Cervantes, assistant director for student services and leadership, located on the second floor of Moody.
