Abilene, though not a huge city like Dallas or Houston, has many distinctive opportunities for visitors, residents and college students to attend and enjoy.
Whether you are looking for family, group or focused events for individuals, Abilene has you covered. First, the Abilene Independent School District 2025 Abilene Invitational Baseball Tournament will be taking place from March 6-8. This event is hosted by Cooper High School and Abilene High School, with games taking place at both locations. Admission varies for the event and is open to the public.
Next, Big Art Day will be taking place on March 6,, at The National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature, located at 102 Cedar St. This event is open to the public and has free admission. “Come celebrate Big Art Day at the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature from 10 am-3 pm.” Abilene Visitors overview of the event says, “Our art studio will be open with various art supplies at your fingertips. Bring your creativity and come make art. And as always, admission to the NCCIL is FREE.”
The Texas High School Powerlifting Association 2025 Region 1 Division I & II Championship will be taking place March 7-8. The event is hosted by Wylie High School and will be located in the Dawg House (Wylie High School - The Dawg House, 4502 Antilley Rd). Admission varies, but the event is open to the public. Powerlifters in this event are competing for a championship spot in the state powerlifting meet which is also scheduled for March.
The First Friday Vendors Market will be held March 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Winery at Willow Creek, located at 4353 South Treadaway Blvd. “Join us at The Winery at Willow Creek for a fantastic evening of live music, delicious food, and local shopping.” According to Visitors Overview, live music will be performed by Andrew Holmes. The Rollin’ Wood Fire Pizza food truck will be there, as well as the Vendor Market, featuring local artisans and businesses. The event is open to the public, with free admission.
Next, taking place on March 8, is the Women's EXPO. This event will be held at the Abilene Convention Center, at 1100 North 6th Street. “Women supporting women - over 50 vendors/exhibitors to shop and learn from all in one place.” The Visitors Overview states, “Free Attendance unless you want the VIP EXPERIENCE. VIPs (only 40 [total VIPs]) receive a beautiful canvas bag, special reception with food and drinks and gifts/specials from the vendors. Call your sisters and girlfriends and make a day of it. Use Ticket Link for VIP registration.”
Finally, The Price is Right Live™ is coming to Abilene, and will be taking place in the Abilene Auditorium, located at 1100 North 6th Street. “The Price Is Right Live™ is the hit interactive stage show that gives eligible individuals the chance to hear their names called and "Come On Down" to win.”
The Visitors Overview says. “Prizes may include appliances, vacations and possibly a new car. Play classic games just like on television's longest running and most popular game show...from Plinko™ to Cliffhangers™ to The Big Wheel™ and even the fabulous Showcase.” Tickets are between $43.00 and $59.00, with the event taking place on March 11, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
