The Spring Choral Showcase is an annual end of the year performance put on by the Concert and Choral choirs which are directed by Dr. Dee Romines, associate professor of Music Education and director of Choral.
The showcase will be their final school performance of the year and will be held in Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall April 29 at 7:30 p.m. This is a free public event for all music lovers.
The choir will be performing several pieces including some slower pieces such as Oh Love by Elaine Hagenberg, and some more upbeat selections such as I Will Arise by Glen Campbell. The program also includes the Sanctus from Faure’s Requiem which the choir performed at the First Baptist Church in March.
“I’m super excited for everyone to hear the songs we have been preparing and I’m very thankful to sing with this choir,” Hannah Albin, freshman worship leadership major and theater minor from Mansfield, said.
“This concert is an exhibition of everything we have been working on and I am most excited to share our hard work with everyone,” Rebekah Higgins, junior worship leadership major from Amarillo, said. “I hope that those who attend will enjoy listening to it as much as we have enjoyed working on it. I mostly hope that the audience will get to experience music different than what they perhaps are used to hearing and maybe discover a different song or style that they really enjoy.”
The choir loves sharing their voices with the public and are excited to end the year on a good note by incorporating various styles of music to honor God and bring enjoyment to others. If you are someone who is interested in joining choir but are not sure, reach out to Dr. Romines or contact one of the members at the Spring Concert. The Concert and Choral Choirs are always looking for fresh, passionate voices.
