Thank you for reading The Brand!
The Brand staff appreciate it when people keep up with The Brand and learn from its stories. Students, as well as faculty advisors, have put a lot of work into this newspaper to keep it running, and we appreciate readers like you.
This is my third semester writing for The Brand and it has been an absolute blast. The Brand has so many unique stories about the events, sports, students and faculty and staff at Hardin-Simmons University. It’s a great way to learn about life at our university.
Writing for The Brand has been a great opportunity for me personally because I get to do something that I love which is to write. While I love to write, it does not mean I may always be good at it. But the staff at The Brand have always been great at giving me pointers and answering any questions I have about writing.
I enjoy writing but often I found myself not knowing what to write about. Then one of my friends told me about the Hardin-Simmons University newspaper. It sounded quite overwhelming at first, but I had to learn to not overthink about writing for a newspaper that my peers read.
Over the past three semesters, I would say that the guidance by my peers regarding ways to write better has been so beneficial to me and my life in general. I have been able to apply what I learned from writing for The Brand in some of my other classes.
As I have written for this newspaper, it has also given me a chance to meet new people around campus that I otherwise probably would not have met. I have interviewed both students, faculty and staff. Each had their own great story to contribute to the newspaper and to Hardin-Simmons University.
Being a journalist is something I never thought I would do, but it has been a great experience to meet with fellow students, all of whom are from different majors and backgrounds, and be able to come together to give HSU a newspaper that represents all of our students.
If you are interested in writing for The Brand, please feel free to reach out to anyone on staff or email the editor-in-chief, Lyndsey Peace, at lmp1609@hsutx.edu.
