Hardin-Simmons University has a brand new club on campus. The HSU Pro-Life Group is a new club that started during the spring 2021 semester, and their mission is to educate HSU students on pro-life and share the truth that Scripture teaches about it.
Abigail Nemec is a junior athletic training major from Houston, and serves as president of the club. Nemec had always felt God calling her to start a pro-life group and believes that God opened the doors for her to fulfill this desire at HSU.
“I started the club because I feel it is an important foundational issue for the Christian worldview that needs to be a topic of conversation among students and faculty,” Nemec said. “I’m excited for sharing my passion for the pro-life movement with other students.”
The club’s officers all share this passion for the gift of life and are so excited to share it with members and the student body.
The HSU Pro-Life group has many plans for events and volunteer and service opportunities both on and off of campus. They had a chance to meet with Pregnancy Resources of Abilene where volunteers are always needed for diaper drives, other donations and teaching opportunities. On campus, the group plans to host different ministries to teach and equip students on pro-life beliefs and how to defend them.
This group is currently accepting members, and meetings are held bi-monthly on Fridays at 5:30 p.m. in Moody Center. They hosted their Kick-Off party on Jan. 29 and hope to have more events this semester. They can be found on Instagram (@hsu_prolife_group), where news about events and other information can be found. This new club hopes to have a positive impact on campus and the Abilene community. If you have any questions or would like to join, you can contact Abigail Nemec at 832-374-1712 or via direct message on the Pro-Life Instagram page.
