The Hardin-Simmons University Cheerleading team is hosting its fall 2024 Cheer Clinics and Cheer Camp, which give local cheerleaders between the ages of 3 and 19 years old a chance to learn cheerleading and work on their skills and stunts in a team environment.
The first clinic was held on Sept. 14 at the Mabee Athletic Complex. Three more opportunities are available — a Cheer Camp for 3- to 12-year-olds and two cheer clinics for 12-19 year olds.
Ages 12-19
The two clinics for ages 12-19 are scheduled for Nov. 9 and Dec. 7 in the Fletcher Fitness Center. Each clinic begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 11 a.m. The check-in process for all clinics begins at 8:30 a.m.The cost of attendance is $35 per athlete.
At the Sept. 14 clinic, cheerleaders learned the HSU fight song, dance, and an HSU cheer and chant. They also participated in a tumbling showcase where girls were able to show off their skills. Concluding the camp, the cheerleaders learned new stunting skills, and each girl tried multiple stunting positions and experimented with stunting techniques.
Ages 3-12
On Nov. 2, HSU Cheer will host a mini cheer camp from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the HSU Fletcher Fitness Center. This camp is for all girls ages 3-12. The cost of attendance is $35, and each girl will receive a T-shirt. All mini cheerleaders are invited to perform at halftime at the HSU football game beginning at 1 p.m. that afternoon.
