Hardin-Simmons University’s Fall 2024 graduating class commencement ceremony will take place on Dec. 16. All ceremonies will be held at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N 6th St. The ceremonies will be livestreamed and available to view online at www.hsutx.edu/live.
HSU’s College of Health Professions, Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics and Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing ceremonies will be hosted at 10 a.m.
At 2 p.m., HSU’s Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts and Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies will host their graduation ceremonies.
Graduation is an exciting life-changing moment. Katerina Terry, senior exercise science major from Tomball, said, “I am most excited about starting a new chapter and seeing where God takes me. It’s a little nerve-wracking, but also exciting to think about the big journey ahead.”
Graduate Information
Graduates must arrive in the Abilene Convention Center’s Upstairs Conference Center one hour before their designated ceremony time. Walking graduates are prohibited from carrying personal items during the ceremony.
Grad Images will provide photography for the event. All graduates may set up an account prior to their graduation and will receive more information following graduation by way of their HSU email.
Professional attire is required. Everyone is encouraged to wear black shoes, and men are recommended to wear dark slacks. No alterations may be made to the caps and gowns. All attire must be worn correctly and appropriately. No enhancements are allowed (i.e. pins, buttons, sashes, etc).
Graduates' fields of study are represented through their hood and tassel colors. A complete list of each college/school's colors, as well as additional graduation information, can be found at https://www.hsutx.edu/academics/registrars-office/preparing-for-graduation/.
Guest Information
Seating is on a first-come basis, so it is recommended to arrive 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the ceremony. No saving or reserving of seating is allowed.
All parking is free for all attending guests. Handicap parking is available on both sides of the Abilene Convention Center.
Each graduate’s family and friends are encouraged to stand as their graduate walks the stage. Noisemakers of any kind, food, drinks, balloons, signs and any alcohol/drugs are banned from all ceremonies.
Everyone is invited to attend HSU’s graduation ceremonies in support of the Fall 2024 graduating class and all that they have accomplished within HSU and the Abilene communities.
