Basketball season is well underway and the courts have been filled with excitement as the Cowgirls have played an outstanding season so far.
They have won 15 games in a row throughout December and January, and are not showing signs of slowing down as they remain undefeated in the American Southwest Conference (ASC) play. Even with their impressive statistics, the Cowgirls are determined to continue to put forth their best effort in order to continue to succeed.
“We have had a very successful season so far and remain undefeated in conference,” Baili Deaver, a freshman exercise science major from Tolar, said. “This is a tight knit team that has each other’s backs no matter what. Despite our current success we constantly remind ourselves not to get complacent because there’s still work to be done to ensure we have a long season.”
The Cowgirls have also had exciting opportunities outside of Texas that have been memorable in strengthening the team and their bond. According to Deaver, “We had the opportunity to travel to Puerto Rico for a tournament which is my favorite memory by far. We went undefeated in that tournament as well. I’m excited to see how much we continue to grow as individuals and a team.”
“So far the season has been going pretty well for us,” Brylee Smith, a sophomore communication sciences and disorders major from China Spring, said. “We’ve been working really hard to keep building up and not focusing on what has already been done. I think we’re all looking forward to what this last stretch of conference play and the tournament hold for us and we’re excited to keep putting in the work!”
The basketball team has been putting forth their full effort and it is evident in their excellent performance. Be sure to come out and support the team, as the rest of this season is going to be one of a kind.
