Hardin-Simmons University’s Concert Band is holding a fall concert on Nov. 5 in Woodward-Ellis theater.
There are multiple bands at Hardin-Simmons including the World Famous Cowboy Band and a popular jazz band. Another example is the HSU Concert Band. It is made up of musicians who perform a variety of challenging, contemporary and classic orchestration. The students practice every week for their performances in order to truly show off their range of skills and their many talents as a group.
“I think I’m most excited for playing the music,” Melina Donjuan, a sophomore music education major and a member of the Concert Band said. “We'll be playing challenging music that everyone worked hard to put together, but I’m also excited for the audience, hoping they will hear how beautiful these pieces are and how much time it took us to put them all together.”
The Concert Band has worked very hard to prepare for this concert and all the band members are very excited for this performance. The Concert Band has performances in and around campus very frequently, but its members spend a majority of the first half of the semester preparing entertaining pieces for the Fall Concert.
“We’re a small band but we put in a lot of hard work,” Adam Patterson, a freshman music education major and member of the Concert Band says, “Fiddler is my favorite piece to play, so I hope the audience will enjoy it.”
Despite the size of the band, there is no lack in size or quality or sound. All the musicians truly know how to fill a room with incredible and beautiful music.
“We work hard on our music and the mastery of our instruments.I think people should see our hard work that we put on the stage,” Donjuan said.
Please come and attend this amazing event that HSU music students have worked so hard to perform.
